Creative: Kaydence is a very creative girl. She loves the arts, always spending most of her free time studying the violin. She is also a very talented singer, yet, she doesn't flaunt this skill. Unfortunately, she is far too self-conscious about her singing voice to ever perform. Kaydence would much rather prefer to play the violin, for she knows that she excels at it.
Shy/Soft spoken: Most of the time, Kaydence doesn't have much to say. She is scared that people will contradict her opinion, so she stays quiet. She likes to express herself through music, not finding words necessary.
Cowardly: Fear is one of Kaydence's biggest problems. She wont strive for the things that she wants because she's afraid of being shot down. She is so self conscious that she doesn't want to be turned away in life. She hides herself behind others, hoping that no one will see that true colors. She is afraid to show who she really is. She's been hurt far too many times before. Now, it's hard for her to be brave.
Humble: Although Kaydence is extremely talented, she doesn't flaunt her abilities. Sure, she makes her living off of her music, but she doesn't show off. She doesn't brag about her talents, she does not find it necessary. People know that she's a good musician, and that's all that matters. She embraces her skill and goes with it.
Pessimistic: Kaydence has a hard time staying positive about things. She worries constantly, afraid that things are going to take a wrong turn at any time. She tends to be a rather cheerful person, but when she starts being a pessimist, it's hard to be around her, for the feeling is contagious.
Kaydence is a petite women that comes to the height of 5'4". Her skeleton carries the weight of 125 pounds, her body is slim yet curvy. She has hair that is the color of caramel, light and silky. It's straight length comes down to her chest, framing her heart-shaped face. Her skin is the color of creamy coffee, lightly tanned. She has azure eyes that contrast greatly with her hair and skin, laying behind her thick eyelashes.
Light blue dresses flow gently over Kaydence's body, draping over her slim figure. Her wardrobe consists of long dresses that are lightly colored. Her mother always insists that she wears low cut dresses so that some cleavage is shown. Of course, other then her chest being bare, her legs and arms are always covered in a light, cotton material. Kay doesn't were many accessories except for her necklace that gives her a certain ability. She dresses rather plain, not finding it necessary to get all gussied up. She never wears any makeup, nor does she style her hair in any matter. She just lets it hang straight, falling lazily over her petite shoulders.
Kaydence rarely has any expression on her face. She'll smile every now and then, mostly to be polite. But, for the most part, her expression is one of a dolls. Her eyes are a blank, a cold blue which hardly ever sparkles. She rarely exposes her pearly white teeth, never smiling wide enough to show them. Since she doesn't talk much, she looks rather bored, looking uninterested in everything. Of course, when she plays her music, she actually looks entertained and pleased. Don't get her wrong though, even though she has barely any expressions whatsoever, she tries very hard to be a cheerful person.
She sat on the damp ground, running her cold fingers through the emerald grass. She sighed heavily, her eyes peering upward toward the sun. She loved the serenity of being alone. She enjoyed the fact that she was far away from her husband, of course, she would probably pay for her absence later. She shook her head at her thoughts, trying to make them dissipate.
As soon as she thought of him, footsteps crunched against the vegetation. Someone was coming up from behind her. She didn't dare turn around, she was too afraid. Her heart beat grew rapid as fear pulsed through her veins. She bit down on her plump lip, squeezing her sapphire eyes shut.
A harsh hand gripped on her petite arm, pulling her roughly to her feet. She stumbled as she found her balance. She planted her feet sternly on the ground. Her eyes flew open, finding the familiar angry face that scowled at her.
Before she could say anything, she felt a sharp sting on her cheek. A loud smack coincided with the pain, making her head jolt to the side. She huffed loudly, bringing her hand up to her cheek, the typical response to getting slapped.
"What the hell, Kaydence," the gruff voice spat at her. He sounded accusing, as if she was doing something terribly against the law.
"I was just-" she started to say, but was quickly interrupted when he roughly grabbed her chin, forcing her to look into his cold, angry eyes.
"Don't you dare talk back to me," he snarled, letting his hand return to her fragile arm, pulling her back towards the town.
She kept her mouth shut, scared to say anything more. She knew what would happen next. She wouldn't be allowed to the leave the house for some time after he was done with her. She gulped loudly at the fear the coursed through her cold body. Her cobalt eyes found the ground, watching as she reluctantly took each step forward. She was tired of it all, tired of the abuse and the hate. She despised her parents for arranging the relationship, not understanding what they ever saw in the man. He was a hateful womanizer.
---
This would always happen, day after day, month after month. Soon, Kaydence grew used to it, giving in to her reluctance, finding that struggle wasn't worth the energy. He used her for what seemed like a lifetime to her. Emotions were foreign to her, for it was pointless to cry. It got her no where.
After all, what was one to do in a situation like this? Especially in a society dominated by man. She had no say, she had to go along with it. She bared her teeth and faced reality. Of course, that wouldn't stop her from praying every night when he wasn't looking. Praying that the torment would end, that maybe the pain would finally subside. But, alas, it continued.
---
Kaydence sat delicately on her bed, the white sheets in disarray. Her hair was a mess. Yellow and purple bruises stained her creamy skin. She stared at her empty shell in the mirror, feeling no emotions towards what she saw. She just stared. Endlessly.
A light knock came from the door, but she didn't move. She didn't hear it. The visitor knocked again, only to give up and enter the dreary abode. The women walked through the threshold of Kaydence's bedroom, staring intently at the broken girl.
"Kaydence?" the light voice broke the girl's trance. Kay shook her head, quickly looking over to the women that stood in the doorway. She didn't' respond, she just stared blankly at her. The women scrutinized Kaydence, her eyebrows pulled together in concern. "He's dead," she muttered, sorrow leaking from her voice. She stared down at her feet, thinking that Kaydence would be heartbroken by the news.
Emotion ran through Kaydence for the first time in what seemed like forever. She looked at the women with confusion. "What?" she asked, her voice rough.
"Edan's body was found down by the river this morning," she said, confirming Kaydence's hopes.
Kay didn't know what to say. She didn't know how to react. She couldn't wrap her mind around what the women was telling her. He was dead. He was finally out of her life. Tears ran down her face, countless emotions cascading over her like a waterfall. Of course, she wasn't crying out of sadness, she was crying over pure joy. The nightmare was finally over for her. She could live again. Live without the constant fear of pain and hurt breathing down her neck. Live without being locked up in her bedroom every day. Live without Edan. It was like the world was lifted from her shoulders immediately. She wanted to curl up into a ball and let out all of the emotions that she was covering up for so long. It felt good to finally let loose, to finally let happiness fill her body.
Naturally, her friend assumed the Kaydence was sad, when she was not even distraught by the news. The women went over to the girl, sitting next to her. She wrapped her warm arms around the fragile women, thinking that she was comforting her. Kaydence just buried her face in her shoulder, enjoying the gentle touch that she longed for.
Things were finally starting to look up for Kaydence.
