History:
A Servant of the Light
Ever since he was young, Reivar has wanted more from life than just living in harmony with the earth as his fellow dwarves felt the need to do. He sought to do so much more, however, he came to realize something.
The Fae lived a very long time.
As such, the Fae were very very slow in doing anything. He couldn't stand it, the way the Fae just stood around and observed, their ways never seeming to change despite the way the world changed around them.
The battle between light and darkness needed to end. And the light needed to win, for the sake of the people. Why couldn't the users of the dark see how much pain they caused people?
Reivar looked to the mortals, whose lives were so short. He saw how quickly they changed their ways to fit the times. He looked to the paladins in particular, who fought for he light. Fought for the justice in the world.
In an unprecedented move, one that no dwarf had ever seen before, he sought out the mortal paladin, seeking to join them.
Joining the Order of Suntheorn
It was not easy for Reivar to gain audience with the general of the Order of Suntheorn. The Fae were not trusted by the Mortals, and his request caused a great uproar. When he revealed his intentions to join them, the uproar only increased.
It was not only the Mortals that were in an uproar, but there was an uproar in the Fae, who now largely viewed him as a traitor. To join those that would wall themselves off from the forest...!
But not all opposed his joining of the order. Two young paladin in particular spoke vehemently on his behalf. Lysander Rex, and a young woman named Rhea Lithana. They argued that anyone willing to serve the light should be given the chance to do so, and that it was noble for Reivar to step out of the forest to do his part.
The Council of Suntheorn agreed, and Reivar was admitted into the paladin order.
Traveling With Lysander and Rhea
For five years, Reivar, Lysander, and Rhea were inseparable. They traveled throughout Illinor, defeating all manners of dark creatures. After all this time, the dwarf became to be a beloved, trusted member of the order, despite his Fae origins. His good humor and boisterous manner made him fit in easily among the other paladin, and he was even able to make Lysander act more low key. Another rare occurrence concerning the dwarf began developing as well; a relationship between he and Rhea. Between dwarf and human.
However, Reivar's good spirits were not meant to last. While he was traveling with a group of paladin, they were ambushed by a group of dark mages. The paladin, fighting strictly by their code of honor lost, unable to conceive of their opponents' dirty tactics. Rhea, among many others, were killed.
The light failed Reivar that day.
A Mighty Paladin Fallen From Grace.
Black smoke billowed above, ash raining down from the sky like snow. The small village was silent save for the roar of the flames that were consuming it. The dwarf stood among the chaos, the twin morning stars in his grasp hanging limply. Their metal, which used to shine as brightly as the sun, were stained black by soot and dried blood.
"It is not too late, Reivar! You can still turn from this dark path you have taken!"
Blinking his brown eyes slowly, the dwarf turned toward the sound of the voice. "Don't be a fool, Lysander. If anything, you should be joinin' me!" He reached up to his neck and ripped the pendant which bore the symbol of Suntheorn off, throwing it at the blond's feet.
"They would not have wanted this, Reivar! Rhea and the others would have wanted-"
"They're not here to want anythin'!" Reiver snarled, raising his morning stars. "Lysander, I'm givin' you this one chance because of our past friendship! Stand down, or I'll make you stay down!"
"Please," Lysander begged, reluctantly drawing his sword. "Do not do this. If you continue upon this darkened path, I will stand in your way! The light-"
"The light has failed," he replied harshly, starting his morning stars spinning. He swung them in perfect rhythm, so that even if they were brought close together, their heads would not clash. "Darkness is the only path open for me. It is the only thing that will allow me to protect people! Protect them from themselves!" He snapped his right wrist forward, quickly followed by his left, sending the morning stars flying toward the paladin. Lysander barely had enough time to leap back to dodge them. He raised his sword, searching for an opening, but the paths of the swinging morning stars seemed to leave no holes in his defense; every time he edged closer he would have have to back away again, lest he be hit.
"Please," Lysander repeated again. "I know that their deaths upset you- it upset me too, but... You cannot forsake the light!"
"Lysander," Reivar hissed, morning stars flailing again. This time the other paladin did not have time to properly dodge, one of them slamming into him and denting his plate armor and throwing him back. The dwarf stood over the blond, whose consciousness was failing, eyes smoldering. "I will allow you to live this time, but if you ever stand against me, it'll mean your death." He replaced his morning stars to their rightful holders on his back, turning his back to the defeated man. He started walking away before he stopped, turning back to observe him for a few moments. "Oh, and I did not forsake the light... It forsake me!"
And with that, Reivar turned away again, disappearing into the dark clouds of smoke,
