Meh. I'll figure out how to work this well I transfer information.... It's going to be a mixture of the guilds application and the sites. So deal with it. I'm lazy I know.
Another lovely thing is I think characters should have a distinct smell, so the shifters can recognize them. Just a suggestion.
Alright, another thing is there are a few parts of Knives past I just can't bear to reveal. Maybe if someone really wants to know they can pm me, on Knives. Your choice. If everyone pms me about it I can add it. But I'll probably just give a short summary of it. And I might add it so this is a WARNING for you not to read his past if you can't stand certain things.-Adelle
Alright Adelle will be describing my character traits. So it isn't from my view. Trust me, that's a good thing. And she will also be posting my history NOT in order. -Knives
---
Name: Knives, or Koen Valiant
Age: 144
Birthday: December 31st
Species: Fae- Elven
Affinity: Philosophic Magic
Abilities: Instinct, Magic Scenery, Detection, Magic Sense, Truth Serum, Touch Sense, Weakness, and Fortune Telling.
Artifact: A special sword given to him by Maverick, ability 6 of dark magic, The Fog. The sword is something Knives doesn't always carry due to a few unpleasant memories. It drains his awareness slowly, not that he has any.
Role: Warrior to protect all from murder
Alignment: Against Those Who Kill
Never without: Used to carry a special something with him, but his sister stole it when she ran. He carries a blade, usually throwing knives or an odd blade of sorts.
Appearance: Thin and sleek body composure, not too tall though. Dark glossy red eyes, looks like clouds hang over them. Thick blond hair that would look good in almost any style, though some you don't want to consider at all. To glance upon him gives people a calming effect. His skin is dark from always being out in the sun. He does have elven ears which are more rounded but have a slight point. Knives has scars that are all over him, except his face, hands and feet. Everywhere else has a ton of scars and stitches. Amazingly though he does well to conceal all of them so no one has a clue he has any. And Knives smells of peppermints, usually.(Example is my current profile picture~Knives)
Personality: He thinks logically and easily can explain his points to anyone. If one has the time to listen without interrupting him. Thinks that no one should be able to take anyone's life. Loves the forest, part of the reason he cannot stand death. More of an optimist. Yet there is a piece of him that hates those who take lives. He cannot stand to kill or see anyone killed. Knives will go on some psychotic spree if someone is killed. He is a gentleman, but at times everyone fears him. Think about it. He is actually quite talented at fighting and wielding a sword, don't try to cross blades with him. And if he hasn't used one for longer than a few days he is horrible when he starts. People blame him for just about everything. He is wanted for some crimes he didn't do, just because he destroyed a city without any knowledge of it and some other "lovely" things. Rewards for his capture are high, which is why he stays away from society. Knives can be a goof, but usually is way to in the past. Knives needs a wake-up call more than anything else. His head is always stuck in the past. Which is the reason he is so moody at times. Knives is tortured in his own mind, its why he tends to keep his mind open to the forest to forget things. He is claustrophobic too. So he hates going into cities. Knives isn't your average elf that's for sure. He can easily be messed with. Make a motion like your about to kill the person next to you and in seconds you'll wish you hadn't. He loses his temper quite often, more times than a normal elf ever would. He isn't too emotional though. Even if he was you would never be able to read his moods. Knives can have major mood swings in which no one would ever suspect possible. Last thing is that you can say or do just about anything to him and Knives most likely won't even notice. He's quite the idiot really. Funny enough that he has philosophic magic but can be so stupid. (Again I must say this isn't my view....-Knives)
History: Rough life from the beginning. He didn't know his parents, as far as he knows they abandoned him and his sister. (Whom may come up later on...) He has an odd thing about him, he can create huge destruction without hurting anyone. He did this when he was at a twisting road in his life, ended up destroying the town. The strange part is he can't remember anything during that period of time only before and after. People still remember him and point him out, and yet he has no clue. Odd as it seems his sister was the one who showed him how his powers work, by ticking him off. After he "accidentally" destroyed the town his sister fled and took something special of his. He still loves her since he cannot remember what happened. Knives name itself has a long back story, and has something to do with him occasionally wielding a blade. He was raised by a kind elemental who was slightly crazed. Though his sister killed him sadly. He got real Pissed at her and that's when he destroyed the town. As of his current location he lives in the forest, can't stand castles or cramped looking places. All of his various marks and scars are from the many duels and tortured he has been through amongst his life.

In depth History~
The sun set still on the horizon two elves sat at the edge of the cliff. The town behind them filled with bustling creatures of all sorts. Chatter of the town flew by the pair. One elf had a calm composure, that relaxed those who were to glance upon him. The other had a more sane look, not as calming but more intellectual look. Both had blonde hair, though different styles. The boy had pale red eyes the girl pale green eyes. Both looked to be quite young. They wore garments fashioned with jewels and silk. Upper class of this town was not what they were. Everyone in town had jeweled and silk clothing, as this town had been under control for many years.
The town was composed of a tavern, inn, merchant shops, traveling salesmen and their tents, houses of all sorts, a place for those who need a home, clothing place, hunters shop, a storage facility, many restaurants, bank, main hall, trinket shop, fortune telling, farms along the edge, and a stage in the direct center of town. This little town was located on the cliff of Patlorn in the eastern province of Illinor. This town is known as Jin.
Although the town seemed fair and plain, mysteries clung to it ever so ghastly. No creature has ever tried to know more about them. Some come up with outlandish ideas that cause the problems. Only one knows what and why things disappear and happen so quietly.
The sun had set and the moon hung low clinging to the horizon. Stars started to form above in the darkening sky. The milky light of the town illuminated by the moonlight. This time of year everyone was excited. As wagons of goods and treasures pulled into the small town of Jin. Crowds wrapped around the center stage as the merchants stepped up proclaiming their goods and the start of the festival. Festival of Clouds was what the villagers called it. Creatures tended to swarm from all over just to come for this festival.
The pair upon the cliff hadn't moved a slightest bit. As they sat their gazing at the moon a face popped up between them. "You two coming?!" The face belonged to that of a daemon. An elemental to be specific. The elemental was practiced in water and death, both which seemed to lure the girl. This elemental was called 'Relius' by the two and looked to be about thirty in mortal years. The two looked to be about thirteen and fourteen.
The girl smiled at Relius as he pulled them both away from the cliff. "Can you not leave us be for even a few moments?
Relius shook his head. "No, I cannot. Knowing you two I'd have to jump off that cliff after you. Now come along, the festival is starting. Anne, this will interest you the most." Now the two hadn't nicknames yet, so they are called by their actual birth names as of now. "It will really?" Anne said with barely any enthusiasm in her voice. She smelled of sweet honey and pine. The boy, Koen, smelled of peppermints.
Relius smirked at Anne at her question. "Of course it will. You've told me in the past that it interested you." A sly look appeared on his face at Anne's concentration on figuring out what it was.
Is it death magic?!" Anne said suddenly and quite excited.
Yes. I figured that you'd like to learn more about it." He stopped to face both of the young elves. "Now I've told you of my friend right?" They nodded in response watching him. "He's coming for the festival this year. He is practiced in Dark magic and isn't much older than you two. I will be teaching things to you, Anne. And Koen, my friend will be teaching you some things." Anne's face was glowing with joy but Koen's was sour. "What? You don't want him too?
Koen shook his head. "No... I don't need to be taught anything."
Relius smiled at Koen and ruffled his hair. "Now, now. You are still young and need to learn some more. I wish you'd understand that."
Koen shook his head. "I'm not that young. I know much more than you in many subjects." Koen pouted and sat himself on the ground.
Relius put his hand to his face, why was this kid so hard to deal with. "Listen. I just need to teach your sister some things so could you just have him watch you for a bit?" He whispered to the elf. Koen mumbled to him saying something along the lines of he didn't need to be watched. Relius smiled and stood upward facing Anne. "Come along now. I cannot keep my friend waiting long." He helped Koen up before they set out to find the Relius' friend.
The crowds bustled about moving through stalls looking for things that caught their eyes. A few gave glanced to the small group moving through the crowd. Most kept to themselves as to prevent drifting away from their route. Relius pulled them along behind him. A pair of phantom eyes set upon the group a feral smile awaited them as they pushed through to the eyes. The owner of these eyes had pale skin that made both of the elves skin crawl. Relius smiled as they shivered. "Nice to see you again my dear friend."
The daemon smiled back at Relius. "I could not leave you be for too long. But I fear that Watcher will want me back within a week so I won't be here too long." Watcher was a Fae whom took care of this daemon. Relius nodded, "Well, it's nice to have you around. As I proposed to these two I would like it if you could watch over Koen for a bit while I tutor Anne." The daemon nodded as Relius and Anne left. Once they did his yellow eyes focused on Koen. "So what will it be?" Koen looked at the daemon unsure what to call him. "I don't need to be watched over." He looked the daemon over for a few seconds. "And your not that much older than me." The daemon smiled then took hold of Koen. "If you don't know then I will show you what we will do. And Relius wants you to be watched over for various reasons. I would tell you but I made him a promise not to tell you lot." Koen yelped when the daemon took hold of him but kept silent and followed. If Relius had reasons then he shouldn't worry. The daemon was called Maverick. Maverick pulled Koen along. "I think we'll practice the art of dueling." He stopped when they reached the edge of town. "Relius told me to teach you something. So I brought you a sword." He handed the thin long sword, a rapier it was thin and sleek very much so fitted for Koen. "I figured that you should learn to duel since your a logical kiddo. But just be careful, I added something to it." He winked slightly.
Koen took the sword and pulled it out of its sheath. "Dueling? Relius doesn't let me near the swords though."
Maverick smirked. "He doesn't have to know this. We can keep it between ourselves. Now the starting stance!" Maverick didn't let Koen take a chance to respond to their new little secret. "Stand like this as to be prepared to block or attack." He stood with his stance ready to leap towards or away from Koen. His back leg and front tense. "Like.... This?" Koen asked soon positioning himself. Maverick smiled and nodded, he waved his hand for Koen to try to attack. "Won't I hurt you? Shouldn't we at least block the edges of the sword?"
Maverick sighed and stood whipping his hand along the edge of both of their swords. "There now prepare yourself and make a move."
Koen nodded in thanks. He didn't want Relius to find him bleeding, either of them for that matter. Koen was rather faint around blood. It made him feel horrible, and death made him saddened. Including the life of a spider. Koen placed himself in the stance again. He breathed watching Maverick's yellow glinting eyes. He stepped forward and slashed the sword. Within a second he found himself on the ground a slight surprise from Maverick. Maverick had blocked Koen's attack and jumped over him before whacking him with the sword to push him to the ground. "Hah! It's obvious now that Relius keeps you from the swords. Fool of him. Now stand, and try to block my attack." Koen followed instructions and stood getting back in the starting stance. Maverick lashed out and whipped Koen to the ground again. "Really now? I told you to block not stand there. This will take awhile." Maverick ran his hand down his face annoyed. "Might have to tell Watcher I won't be back in a week..." Maverick talked to himself more than Koen. "Alright here. I'll take it easy on you. Now just make the movements to block me." Once the training was finished Koen laid on the grass tired. "The sun will set soon. We should stop.....For today." He looked back up at Maverick who didn't look the slightest tired.
If you insist we can stop. But tomorrow I must retreat to the shadows. So I suggest we ask Relius if we can have lessons at night for tomorrow. We can tell him I'm trying to teach you about darkness. I will a bit so you can tell him some random facts." Maverick flipped back his hair to look down at Koen. "Now come. Relius and Anne will be waiting." He reached out a hand and Koen grabbed it. Maverick pulled him up and smiled. Then the pair started back towards the town. Maverick holding onto the swords so as Relius wouldn't get suspicious.
As the group was reunited near the cliff Relius gave them a worried look seeing as Koen looked stressed. "What have you two been up to hmm?" He asked holding back a suspicious tone.
Well, I can't tell you. We plan on it being a surprise. But tomorrow we will be going out during the night." Maverick answered before Koen could say anything. A small wink from him to Koen which was hidden from Relius and Anne. "So what have you been doing?
Practicing death magic." Anne answered simply a smirk was on her face as she looked over her brother. As Relius and Maverick started their own conversation about how long it's been since the last time they saw each other Anne trotted over to her brother. "So, dear brother. I have mastered my techniques of death magic. How are you with your magic?
Koen tilted his head. "You can't have mastered death magic already. But I am doing fine with my abilities. Things are becoming clearer." He smiled at his sister whom seemed to be teasing him. She was praised much more than he by Relius. Maverick turned to wink at Koen as it was a go for tomorrow night. A sly smile grew across both of their faces. This would certainly be fun.
The group had settled in back at Relius' place to crash for the night, and day for Maverick and Koen. Anne and Relius would continue their training and once it became dark would come home and wake the two.
Koen stood in the cold dark looking around for Maverick. 'Where was he?' Koen thought looking about his surroundings. A flash of silver caught his eye and Koen stepped back and deflected the blade as it disappeared once more. Koen twirled around watching for the silvery blade. His own rapier in his hand Koen jumped into the shadows lashing at the silvery blade. It fell to the ground and he whisked the rapier up to the neck of Maverick. "You cheated. You had to go and use you magic to cause yourself to be invisible."
Maverick appeared within a snap of his fingers and backed away from Koen. "I had to. It is all part of the learning curve. You do well under pressure though. I admirer this. Well the sky is getting brighter. Today I can remain in the sun at least. Shall we move on?" Maverick asked raising an eyebrow. Koen sure did catch on quick. This kiddo was smarter than Relius thought. But Relius was much to obsessed over teaching Anne.
Koen nodded. "Yes please. We can sleep later. But I want to learn more, not just about dueling."
Maverick tilted his head. "Then what? I have deemed that you are have philosophic magic. But I do not know much of this.
Koen squinted his eyes at the light that began to rise. "Do you know what I'm capable of then?
Maverick shrugged. "I know a little. Not much. All I know is that it means you'll be able see truth, and have a high intelligence. There could be more though." He set himself down on a fallen log. Patting it he had Koen sit next to him.
Really?! I can see truth?" Koen looked about he didn't feel anything different. Although Maverick had never lied to him.
As far as I know. I think you should take up an interest of listening in on others conversations and deciphering what is true and false. I think I can arrange that with a few friends of mine. Some of whom will tell the truth and others who wouldn't." A grin was plastered on his face. Maverick may be a daemon but he certainly didn't act as one. Most likely because of Watcher. He had sent her a message the other day saying he would be staying a little longer to help teach Koen. She had sent one back saying as long as he returned before a month passed by.
Koen rolled his eyes at Maverick, "You know I think your more of a Fae than my sister is." He laughed as he watched Maverick's grin fade.
Well why do you say that?" He wrinkled his nose. Anne always seemed to be quite Fae to him when ever he was around.
Oh she is more interested in being in darkness and learning of death. Anne always suggests that she find a way to get cruel features much like a daemon has. I can never understand her." He leaned forward on the log and breathe out watching his breath rise and fade into the air.
Maverick remained silent for awhile he too watching their breath rise. "Not all daemons are like that. As I am not quite as horrid as they may say. Yet I'm still am capable of the same things as they are. It is not our interests or attitude that determine what we are. We just are." Maverick sheathed his blade before looking up at the gray sky. Koen followed his gaze as geese flew above them in a V shape. When he looked back to Maverick the daemon was looking right at him. "Remember this, how you act does not determine what you are. Koen.... Don't put anyone in categories or boxes before you get to know them."
Koen nodded to Maverick. He was wise in words, for being as young as he was. Well, they were about the same age but why did maverick know so much more? "Maverick?" He asked making sure the daemon was listening. He responded with a questionable grunt. "How do you know so much? You are only a touch older than I. What is it about you daemons that seems to scare some?
Maverick turned to face Koen again. "How do I know so much and why are daemons so scary looking?" He pondered this. Twas a good question. That of a daemons appearance could scare off some for they had sharp features, huge menacing features really. As for how much Maverick knew, it was because of Watcher. Watcher had taught him so much. "Hmm..." He paused looking up to the sky once more. "I know much for I have experienced much. As for why us daemons are scary is because of our features. Well, at least I can only assume. For as you already know we have sharp features and menacing claws and fangs. Well, many of us have these at least." He nudged Koen again. "Now then. I think it best we get on with dueling. Best we practice this until you have it down."
Koen nodded with a smile. "Then we continue." He unsheathed his sword and balanced it gently with his hand. With a twirl he sent it towards Maverick. Maverick dodged it easily then swatted Koen's sword away. A sly smile remained hidden on Maverick's face as he lashed out with a flick of his wrist he twirled the sword to knock Koen over. Koen twirled himself around and bent backwards to avoid the blow. Then stepped back before jumping with a twirl and slashing out at Maverick. Maverick had not much time to react so he stabbed his sword out in an attempt to stop Koen. Both fell to the ground. Maverick nodded to Koen whom was clutching his side. "Think you stabbed a little too hard..." He winced at the pain. Good thing they had blocked the sword edges or this would be pretty bloody.
Maverick stood wincing slightly himself. "Let me see. I do believe you also slashed at me a little much. No, it was like a true battle. Good." As Koen revealed where Maverick had stabbed him they both winced by looking at it. Maverick had reached blood, and with a blunted sword too. Maverick kneeled next to Koen with a worried look. "Looks like I did indeed..." He bit his tongue Relius would kill him for this. The gaping patch bled quickly. Maverick tore his shirt to wrap around Koen. He tightened it to put pressure on the wound and hopefully stop the bleeding. "I think it would be best to not practice for awhile...." Maverick patted Koen in an attempt to calm him.
Koen whom was gasping at the sudden negative blood flow. A headache replaced any thoughts he would have had about this situation. Maverick pushed Koen to an upright sitting position. Cursing he gently lifted the light elf and carried him over to a nearby log. Maverick lay Koen down against the log before he stood and started pacing. What had he done?! He looked back over at Koen his stomach churning inside of him. Maverick considered telling Relius for a second. 'No! That would make him lose his trust in me...' He thought to himself. Cursing again he continued to pace. This was a disaster. Maverick continued to pace back and forth. What was he to do now? Bring him to Relius and tell him it was an accident? No, that would be a horrible idea. Clenching his teeth he continued to pace. He stopped and glanced at Koen.
Koen looked around him, the world all a blur. Where was Maverick? What had just happened to him? Why was he in such pain? These questions ran through his head with no answers. He reached to touch this side where it hurt. A hand stopped him, "Koen?" The voice sounded like Maverick. Was it? He couldn't tell. The hand held his for awhile before letting go and letting Koen's hand drop back down. He heard muttering and curses from the voice. The voice sounded so distant. Koen felt extremely tired and drained from any energy he could have had. Suddenly a blurred figure grabbed hold of him firmly. "Koen? Can you at least say anything to me?" The voice was back. I wanted him to talk but Koen wasn't in the mood to. So he remained quiet. The voice cursed again and Koen felt the figure hold him closer. "Don't worry. I'll figure something out. I promise..." What was the voice talking about? What in the world of Illinor could it possibly want to figure out? This was making no sense to Koen what so ever. A black cloak seemed to cover Koen as the light faded from him. The world became dark. This pain it seemed to pulse throughout him draining all of his energy.
Koen?!" Maverick screamed at him as Koen's body went limp in his arms. He cursed again and held Koen tighter to him. "This is all my fault... I shouldn't deserve Relius' respect anymore..." Yes, he would take Koen back into town and explain everything. Well, maybe not everything. But most of what happened and why he decided it would be fun to teach Koen dueling and not about things. Maverick hauled Koen over is left shoulder. This elf sure was light at least. Maverick began walking, it wouldn't take long at the pace he was going. Yet, he was determined to help out Koen.
Within a half an hour the town came into view. A few creatures spotted him carrying Koen. Some had seen them go out to practice everyday and quickly ran to get some help. By the time Maverick had actually reached the town a swarm of creatures had already formulated. Whispering and muttering about speculation of what happened spread quickly over the crowd. Maverick hushed them with a glare. He marched forward, Relius had just popped into the crowd. Quickly followed by Anne they both rushed over to Maverick and Koen.
Relius glared at the crowd. "Well shoo! This isn't your business!" As the crowd dispersed full of questions and mutterings of how silly this was Relius motioned for Maverick to hurry up and follow. "Well now. What have you to say about this?" He motioned at the unconscious figure of Koen.
Maverick winced, this was going to be hard to explain now that he thought about it. Too late anyways. "Once we're safe from the crowds I can explain."
Relius nodded with a peeved look on his face. They didn't say much until they reached Relius' house. Once inside and cut off from the crowds Relius turned and glared at Maverick. "What happened?" He demanded the answer firmly with the question.
Maverick gulped before laying Koen on his bed and turning to Relius. "Well... First off. The little surprise I had in mind was dueling. I was planning on making him an excellent swordsman. And well....." Maverick's words came out choppy and full of pauses. "When he tried to attack me with a jumping spin. I sort of... Decided the only good maneuver I could make was to stab at him... The swords were blocked though!" Maverick watched Relius' face. Relius was glaring at Maverick but with a sympathetic look too. "I'm sure you don't trust me now... But I tried to stop the blood flow with my shirt.... And I.... I brought him back so that he could heal quickly and.....
Hush Maverick." Relius' tone was not harsh but rather a sadistic tone. "It was not completely your fault this happened. I have gathered it was a mistake. As long as Koen recovers I do not distrust you." He turned to Koen whom was laying there still and frail looking. "I have already sent Anne to retrieve a healer to see what we can do. We can hope it isn't major.
Maverick felt a meek smile tug at his lips. "Thank you... For understanding." He wondered if Watcher would understand this as well. "I suppose that I will have to leave soon anyways. As Watcher will be expecting me home eventually. I'll be back in a months time."
Relius looked back up at Maverick. "Then you can leave. After, I make sure Koen will be fine." Relius went back to looking over the motionless Koen. A sigh escaped him and he pet Koen's blonde hair.
Maverick nodded before sitting at the table in the other room. All he needed to hope for at the time being was that he hadn't caused Koen any serious damage. It was an accident and they had blocked the swords. Had he missed a section of his blade that he hadn't blocked? A nervous feeling rushed over him as he took his sword out and felt along the edges to make sure that it had been blocked. As his fingers felt their way across Maverick's blade he stopped. It had been blocked, so why had it pierced Koen's skin. This matter was quite frustrating. Maverick was brought back to the world as Anne rushed in followed by the head healer of Jin.
Relius welcomed the healer with thanks for coming so quickly and on such short notice. The healer nodded. "Is this him? The one Anne was referring too?" Relius nodded to the healer. "Yes. So I'll need an explanation of what exactly happened.
Maverick stepped up. "I can give that." The healer nodded for him to continue. "We were practicing dueling, with swords. We had blocked the blades edges as to prevent harm." He continued to explain what had happened and Maverick carrying Koen back here.
The healer nodded in thanks. "So. He was stabbed by a blocked blade." The healer motioned to the bandage that Maverick had wrapped around Koen. "What is this? Did you try to stop the bleeding after or before he fainted?
Before. He was somewhat dazed when I tied it though. I feared the worst and quickly ripped my shirt to put suppress it." Maverick showed the spot he had torn off of his shirt.
Again the healer nodded before looking over Koen once more. "I see... I'm still baffled by the sword being blocked. Have you checked the sword for any cracks of the spell?" Maverick nodded but kept quiet. "Good." The healer remained quiet while inspecting the wound. "It is rather deep than wide. Much of which is a problem. It is easier to heal a shallow but long wound that a deep one." This would be quite a problem. As it is known by all it is harder to sew back together flesh than skin. The healer placed her hand on the wound feeling a slight jump from Koen. "He will be fine, I just need to stop the blood loss." The healer mumbled a few words and the flesh slowly began to knit together. The healer paused to gain more control. It took much more energy indeed. When she had regained her energy she continued to knit the flesh back together with her magic. Once the wound was patched the healer nodded to them. "He should recover soon enough. Tell him to rest for a few days before doing anything that could risk tearing the wound open again. Good day." With that the healer left the house without another smidgen of a second.
Relius faced Maverick once more. "I suppose you will be leaving then?" Maverick gave a slight nod. It was good to know the little elf would be fine. "Then leave and may I wish you safe travels back to Watcher and the rest of you all." Relius bid Maverick farewell as he left. Relius turned bak to Anne whom was hovering over Koen with a grin. Raising an eyebrow she looked up and the grin faded. "Well then. We should practice here for the meantime. As I do not want to leave Koen here by himself the way he is." Anne shrugged, a bit of disappointment glittered her eyes.
-----
Relius pulled on Anne's sleeve for her to hurry. "We do not have much time left. Maverick will come soon and we must find Koen. Koen promised he would have been back yesterday...." Relius gave a worried look around the streets. People didn't just disappear without reason. Maverick would be most likely to run off looking for Koen and waste all the time he was going to be here just looking for that kid. It may be that Maverick was young too. But the daemon was quite trained much better than anyone could expect. He acted much more like an adult than a young teen. As it was for most fae and daemons. Their world was used to it at least. Relius spotted a blur of shadows moving, two figures small and child like. Obviously one of them was Maverick as it was easy to pick him out from any crowd. The other was more obvious as the two approached them, Koen. A sigh of relief escaped Relius as Koen smiled at him. "Now where did you run off to?"
Koen smiled shyly at Relius as Maverick answered for him. "I was on my way here and found him off in the woods. So, we just traveled back together."
Relius nodded a happier look on his face now. "Then welcome. It's been awhile has it not?" Over the time that Maverick had been away Koen had recovered from the stab wound. Although he still had to be careful as it was now a scar that would remain for always, his first.
Maverick gave a nod. "Yes, I believe it has. A month passes by quickly too. Watcher had almost kept me if we hadn't already planned this."
Oh, Watcher is always like that. She does seem to let time fly by her without care." Relius smiled and motioned for them to come. As the group walked along Maverick and Koen were deep into conversation of all that had happened. Maverick apologized a few times, as he probably wouldn't stop. Koen kept telling him not to be so apologetic. Eventually Relius looked back at Maverick with a roll of his eyes to tell him that he could stop apologizing at any time. Maverick apologized for apologizing so many times. "Maverick?!" Relius said stopping and facing him. "Don't be sorry. You have to only apologize once. Understood?!" Maverick smirked and nodded. "Now hush up. I don't want to hear your voice for awhile..." Koen shrugged at Maverick as they continued to walk. The walk remained silent until they all reached Relius' house. "All right you can all talk now."
Good! Because that silence was going to kill me." Maverick laughed, he hated silence unless he was alone in the forest or in a battle of sorts.
-----
Time passed by as the merry little group talked about past things and future planning. Once night fell Maverick took Koen out on a walk. "You know. Last time I saw you I felt I could never face you again.
Really?" Koen faced Maverick once they reached the forest edge. His pale red eyes a bit confused.
Of course I did. After all I'm the one who stabbed you." Maverick looked back curious and also a bit confused.
Oh.... I forgot about that." Koen looked away again a more sulking look about him.
Cheer up kiddo! I don't like to see you so glum." Maverick nudged Koen with a smile. "So what happened after I left?
Not much. I was forced to stay in that bed for a week. Miserable. Had that bandage on till about last week. Relius is still on my case about being careful." Koen shrugged and smiled meekly back. It was obvious that he didn't really like to be babied by Relius the way he was.
Maverick nodded at this. "Relius just wants to keep you safe. That's all. Your still young, so I can't blame him.
Well so are you. Your not that much older than me." He huffed and placed himself on a log nearby. He looked around the clearing. They had managed to walk back to the same exact clearing that they had been in before.
Maverick looked around the clearing with a cold shiver. He didn't like remembering the terror he felt. "That is true. But I have a shorter life span. That which means I will mature and age differently.
I just don't think it's fair." Koen wrinkled his nose. He noted in his mind that Maverick did not seem comfortable being back in this clearing. "Don't like the memories?
Maverick nodded to Koen finding that it was a little obvious he didn't want to be here. "Of course I don't. I didn't really find you almost being dead due to me very amusing. Why would I?" Maverick shuddered and placed himself next to Koen on the log.
I'm not sure." He paused before looking over to Maverick. "Promise not to forget me though." Koen suddenly said.
W-wha? Your leaving?" Maverick shot a surprised look at Koen. "Why?!
I can't stay around forever. Just promise. Just tell me one thing to remind me it's you." Koen said gazing up at the starry sky.
You can't!" Maverick stood and pulled his sword out quickly and pointed it at Koen. "I won't let you." A sudden fear in Maverick's eyes showed he didn't want to have Koen leave him.
Koen looked at Maverick with eyes that showed his intelligence and gladness for Maverick being a nice friend. "Maverick....." He moved the sword away as Maverick quivering hand dropped it. "........Maverick..." Koen breathed barely saying his name. A tear rolled down Maverick's face. "I won't leave forever. I'll see you again some day. Promise!"
Maverick looked away but remained head hung down to look at the ground. "Lies... Your just going to disappear like they did... Then never come back.
Koen's eyes widened a bit. "They?" Who was the other creatures that Maverick meant. "Maverick, I do not lie. I cannot lie.....
I-I know... I just can't. I just can't accept that your going." Maverick looked up with his tear filled phantom yellow eyes. "You wouldn't leave forever, right?
Right." Koen nodded with a happy smile in hopes to soothe Maverick. "So you won't forget me?"
Maverick shook his head. "When we cross paths again we should use a single word so as to know it is truly us.
We can use...... A name?" Koen said brainstorming.
Watcher! We can use her name." Maverick beamed. "No one will know what we're talking about because we could talk about a lot of things if we mention Watcher."
A sly grin enveloped Koen's smile. "Perfect. Watcher it is. Don't forget it though." He warned fearing that Maverick would forget.
I won't. Not in a million years." Maverick and Koen shook hands on it. "So you knew I was leaving tomorrow, didn't you?"
Of course I did. I can tell by the way you were acting today." Koen smiled proud that he had figured it out.
-----
Morning came and went quickly once Maverick had left. The town of Jin moved on back to a normal standpoint. Days passed by and life was pretty normal.
KOEN!" Anne called out looking around her. "He ran off again Relius!"
Relax." Relius stepped from the shadows with a smirk. "I sensed he would try to run away today.
What?!" Anne stepped up to Relius and flared a bit. "You knew he was planning to run?! And you didn't tell me!?"
Anne. Relax. He'll be back. I do believe he was seeing if he could easily get away from us before he actually tried it." Anne huffed and crossed her arms. "Look see there. He is on his way back.... While taking his sweet time." Relius pointed at Koen who stood in the crowd of people busy chatting away with travelers.
Anne folded her arms. "Well look who showed up." She hissed at Koen as he approached the little group. Koen smiled faintly at them. "I have something to show both of ya!" She pulled on Koen's sleeve and grabbed Relius' arm. "No time to waste.
Koen looked over to Relius looking for an answer. Relius shrugged back and mouthed the words: I have no clue what this is all about. Koen nodded and followed after his sister. "So, are you going to tell us?
Anne paused. "No. Why would I do that! You'll have to figure it out for yourselves." She winked before pulling them both again. The whole series of questions continued until Anne finally stopped in the center of Jin. "Now then. I can explain." No one stood around as it was getting late.
So, are you going to show us or tell us what you are planning?" Koen asked sitting by the little pool of water right smack in the middle of town.
Yes I will silly." Anne rolled her eyes. "Relius, could you help me for one second?" Relius nodded. "Good. Koen, stay right here and don't budge a muscle or this won't work." Koen nodded and began to sway back and forth with a smile on his face. Anne rolled her eyes and pulled Relius to the side. "I've been practicing. But I need a little help with something else." A faint smirk glimmered on her face but was not visible.
Sure. I'll help you with what you need." Relius responded with a nod. He couldn't help her with much. He already taught her about poison, telepathy and a little of fortune telling. Of course she wasn't quite ready for the whole spirits yet. Relius attempted to read her mind but it was blocked off by a huge mental wall. Odd that she had learned to build one up so quickly.
Oh good." Anne nodded before removing a poisoned short sword from it's sheath. "Because it'll be easier to have someone to talk to." Anne jabbed the small blade into Relius' side. The poison that was on the sword seeped into the wound almost immediately.
Koen glanced over shock on his face. He was abut to stand when Anne hissed at him. "It won't work if you move from there." His wide pale eyes kept on Relius' face which showed agony as the poison quickly infected his body. He couldn't stand this, it was murder, and for no good reason too. He clenched his teeth, Anne wouldn't really kill Relius, would she? No, that wouldn't make sense. She looked up to Relius, right? Questions whizzed into his mind. Death was traitorous, no one deserves to take a life of another. No one. It was not their choice to make. Nobody decided who would live and who would die. The world just corrupted this like they had many other things.
Anne removed the blade from Relius' side with a small grin. "See there? Now you can speak to me through me summoning you." Relius fell at her feet a blood thirsty look was formed onto Anne's face. "There now." She stepped back and walked towards her brother. "We were better off without him ow aren't we?!" Her face crazed and demonic.
What did you do!" Koen hissed he almost stood his temper was rising and he now realized she had killed him for good.
Sit down!" Anne pushed him back to his seat. "I figured that you'd be leaving soon anyways so now would be the perfect time to rid ourselves of Relius."
Why!? He didn't do anything wrong what so ever!" Koen tried to stand again but Anne kept pushing him back to his seat. This angered him a little more that she was keeping him as sort of a hostage here. What if she was to kill him too? Then what.
He was in my way! That's why. You better not get in my way brother, I don't want to kill you too." She grabbed his arm and pulled him off his seat. "Now, your going to follow my instructions and heed them well. Isn't that right, brother?"
Koen gulped down a bit of saliva that had accumulated in his mouth. She planned this. He didn't like this, she took a life of another and meant it. Accidental death was different from pure murder. He had a choice oppose her or follow her. Koen closed his eyes as he made his choice. "I'd rather die than be associated with murder.
Anne hissed at him and threw him towards the ground where he lay still. "Fine! You'll regret this brother. I'll make sure to make the rest of your life the worst possible." With that she removed her short sword again.
Koen crept his hand over to his own blade. If only he could just fend her off and tie her up to prevent any more killings. As Anne lashed out at Koen he twisted and blocked with his own blade. Catching her by surprise. Standing up Koen made sure to keep an eye on her at all times.
Hah! So you do have things up your sleeve. I thought so."
Koen kept his franticly confused eyes with less emotion. What was this they were brought up to oppose death. At least he had learned it that way. "So do you. You can't decide who's life to take. It's not yours to choose.
Oh hush. I had the choice to kill Relius didn't I?! And now I have the choice to kill you." Anne smiled wildly.
Koen slashed his blade at her. Everything went blank.......
-----
Everything had blipped out. What had happened? Koen stood and wavered back and forth. He was still in the center of Jin, right? He looked around and his heart fell. The whole town had been destroyed. Everyone was still fine, but what had happened? People seemed to avert their eyes from him as he walked through the desolate town. Where was Anne, and Relius. What had happened?! Finally he noticed someone coming towards him. "Sir. You have committed a crime for destroying this town." Koen tilted his head. What was this. HE destroyed it? How in the world did he do that? He couldn't even remember a thing. "Sir? Are you listening." The d__n mortal was being a pest. Why didn't Koen have his sword with him. That came from Maverick, and where had Anne gone?
I heard you. I just didn't do it." He looked around everything was totaled. How did his end up happening? "What's todays date?
Sir? Today is the seventeenth." Before Koen could respond the mortal continued. "Sir it has been confirmed that you are the cause.
Of the entire city of Jin?! Yeah right.... And how is it the seventeenth? Only yesterday was the fifth." Koen said now wildly confused.
The mortal narrowed his eyes at Koen. The look was as if he was crazy. "We were going to ask you how you managed it." The mortal man stepped back a bit. Obviously not wanted to tangle with him if he really did cause this much damage.
A crazed smile on his face now as Koen considered the possibilities. "You really think I, me? Could do such a thing as this?!" He laughed much like a lunatic. This really sent the mortal running away. Fools! To think that he, Koen of all people, could somehow manage to destroy a town without knowledge of it. Maverick and Relius had mentioned that with such an ability as his he could easily pick out every single detail of his past. So of course this wasn't possible, right?
The square had cleared from each being that had once stood in the desolated town. Koen shrugged, they must really think he did it if they were this scared of him. All he was real good at was studies, and swordplay somewhat. This reminded him of his blade. Koen reached for his blade and in shock pulled his hand back quickly. His sword was gone, and why was this?

(Koen into Knives)
-ehem-
The starlit sky hovered over Koen as he trudged forward. Anne and Relius decided he needed to go to another town and get some supplies, as winter would strike soon, most likely this night. Koen had been trudging through the forest for quite some time now. So he was in a horrible mood. One in which no one deemed it right to speak with him. The town was still a week away, on foot. This was in fact the sort of thing that Koen dreaded. This torture was set in his mind that when he returned he would give Relius and Anne a piece of his mind. They deserved it after all. Relius did own a horse too, but no he had to keep it to himself and torture Koen by making him walk all the way there. Oh they'd be in for it when he returned.
A patch of open field spread out in front of Koen. Relief sunk into his weary body. He wasn't made for running around all the time. Maybe some hard core dueling like he does with Maverick but never a long journey. Lucky him though, Relius let him bring his blades. Yes he had accumulated more than one. Throwing knives, short sword, rapier, scythe, oh the list could go on. Maverick convinced Relius it was for the better. During many a duel though Maverick had created scars for Koen. None however ever reached his face, hands or feet. Lucky enough. Of course he had accumulated many scars from the journeys that Relius insisted he take. For example the one he was on now from just ramming into tree branches and stepping through thorn bushes, or the one he went on before this. Yeah that one sure did suck. Let's see he barely made it out alive, while managing to get a large hunk of skin removed off his chest. Oh yes, he had managed to bandage it up. Relius just looked it over called it good then assigned him this mission. What luck. Anne got to stay home and relax while practicing her special death magic with Relius. As if that's what they were really doing. Oh right he was mulling over what he was going to do to them when he returned from this awful 'journey'. Yeah it was more of an errand. He knew why Relius liked to keep sending him on these trips. Oh and it was one awful reason too. Ah, he needed to get his mind off these things.
Maverick had left awhile back. Koen planned on leaving this place eventually. Whenever Relius allowed him to be home and not traveling.
A few houses were somewhat in the distance. Close enough for walking distance, but far enough that he didn't want to walk there just to find shelter. Houses were cramped feeling too. Koen milled over whether he wanted to go or stay. Finally he decided it would be best to stay in the forest and sleep.
As Koen watched the stars glitter and twinkle above him he drifted off to sleep as he leaned against a tree.
A small group of creatures huddled close by to where Koen had fallen asleep. One of them spotted him and tapped the others. In silence pointed out Koen whom was sleeping ever so heavily. After exchanging a few ideas of how to deal with him they all nodded at one agreement. Sneaking over with a rope in hand the creatures from the tiny land bellow tied up Koen. The large burly creature grabbed the now tied up Koen, whom is still asleep, and tossed him over his shoulder. The group crept back to the dot of land with a captive in their hands.
A light flickered in the cold snow. It had set overnight as the mortal, whom warned Koen about it coming while he was out in the wilderness, had said. The light was coming from a house, one of the houses of the creatures who had taken Koen as a captive. Koen's tired eyes opened as he glanced around him. He was rather freezing, and tied up.... The reasoning was rather peculiar. His clothing was completely removed, not that he really cared. It was the whole no sense of comfort zones thing. Still though, it was rather an odd feeling that welled up inside him. More of a 'why the heck am I tied up and stripped down' feeling.
A shatter of glass broke the silence around Koen. His head jerked up as he glanced around, oh it was from the house. Questions buzzed in his head as he watched the silhouettes in the window. Being as he was rather cold Koen repositioned himself, the bindings getting in the way.
---
On second thought. I'll just keep it to myself. A little teaser though... Ehehehe. Feel free to pm me for the reasoning behind this. I think I'll work on it slowly in case anyone ever takes a peak at it. I do hint at gross things too. Aw, as no one has yet to inquire on his special part of his past I'll most likely not reveal this. Pester away! Oh by the way, you may want to avoid reading it if you can't stand some certain things, like torture.... -Adelle

A few quotes by the master himself~
+What is life if you can't spend it without worrying that someday you'll be stabbed in the back?
+It's not that bad.....
+What was that? ....No, really. I didn't hear what you said.
+Snap! Another blade gone missing.
+You know I can't kill, but that doesn't mean I won't do anything to you.
+What?!
+Being stabbed a billion times doesn't hurt that badly.
+So I made a mistake, whatever.
+Don't you dare. *angry face*
+Yeah.....You can think about it that way if you want, but...
+Are you even listening?
+Not gonna talk about it.
+And why exactly is the reason for this mess?
+Nobody should have the right to decide who gets to live or die.
+War is pathetic. Those who participate in one are just as pathetic.
+So? You think one way and I don't.
If explanations are needed just say so. A few of these are just things he tends to say.
-Knives
